Business Development Advisor – New Business Team

The Business Development (BD) Advisor – New Business is an integral part of Latham’s Business Development team. This role will be responsible for leading and coaching partners through a process to win the firm’s largest and most strategic opportunities, while conducting information gathering sessions with relevant BD teams and partners to clarify requirements, client needs, and approach. This role will be located in our London office and will support a variety of practice areas including Project Development & Finance, Banking, and Energy and Infrastructure. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence. 

Other key responsibilities include:

• Managing the entire RFP lifecycle including assessing the opportunity, recommending a go/no-go decision, establishing project timelines and protocols, developing win themes and client messaging, creating compelling written and visual content, preparing the response team  for in-person client presentations, and conducting win/loss client debriefs
• Leading kick-off meetings to establish messaging, key milestones, and the core team
• Analysing Invitation to Tender, Request for Proposal, and Request for Information documents to elicit compliance requirements, instructions, evaluation criteria, and to undertake other bid management tasks
• Collaborating with other administrative functions within the firm, including the finance team, pricing team, compliance team, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), and the general counsel’s office, to ensure alignment and sharing of relevant information
• Drafting, editing, and finalising external-facing materials and responses to Request for Proposals, ensuring sector-specific expertise and messaging
• Helping partners prepare for client meetings, including developing scripts, talking points, and additional supporting pitch documents, while providing one-on-one partner coaching as needed

We’d love to hear from you if you:

• Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in trends and terminology of the project finance and bank finance markets, and energy & infrastructure sector
• Have the ability to influence and coach senior members of the firm
• Superior writing/language skills with deep understanding of how to effectively promote and persuade in a business-to-business context and ability to draft content (such as executive summaries) from scratch

And have:

• Relevant experience managing and leading strategic initiatives with a focus on developing and managing credentials, proposals, tenders, or other written sales tools, as well as developing successful business development strategies, and winning proposals
• Relevant work experience in a legal, financial services, or professional services environment, or an organisation operating in the energy & infrastructure sector
