About the Role

The Associate Director, Business Development, New Business Team – EMEA is an integral part of Latham’s Business Development (BD) team. This newly created role will be responsible for leading the New Business Team (NBT) in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, while directing the overall approach to delivering pitches and proposals, managing client win and loss feedback, and elevating content. A large portion of this role will include engaging and influencing partners, both 1:1 and across practice and industry groups, to report on, and evolve, their go-to-market approach to winning new business. This role will be located in our London office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

 

  • Sharing relevant intelligence and shaping globally-strategic conversations with partners, staff, departments, and practice leadership to inform the firm’s approach to pursuing and winning new business
  • Coaching and influencing partners on pitch best practices, client approaches, and presentation skills
  • Guiding and coaching direct reports and their teams on influencing partners, elevating pitch engagement, go/no-go evaluations, and working efficiently and effectively
  • Working closely with Business Development to evaluate, develop, and evolve content based on market changes, client and partner feedback, and targeting efforts
  • Developing and leading training to help both partners and staff elevate their skills, including effective meeting and elevator pitch techniques
  • Collaborating with other members of Business Development leadership to enhance and grow the department, including global efforts to increase revenue, developing the team, and leading/contributing to strategic initiatives
  • Building the NBT and BD brands via on the ground engagement in the firm's EMEA offices

  • Demonstrate deep subject matter expertise with a proven ability to influence positive outcomes
  • Exhibit well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organisational levels of the firm

 

And have:

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Relevant business development and pitch and proposal experience
  • Relevant supervisory experience
